As a longtime resident of 34 years, I have watched our city explode with growth. Frustrated with planning and traffic issues, I chose to become active at City Hall. As a resident and later as a Commissioner, I have worked to put our city on a path to a sustainable future. I helped make Murrieta the 2nd safest city in the nation. In 2005, I urged local hospitals to expand. I introduced traffic calming measures. I helped create a 500 acre green belt of open space. I held the city accountable to building the first Regional Sports Park. I protected our heritage by supporting and creating specific plans for areas of the city that maintain their rural character and large lots sizes. While I support economic development, I feel an equal amount of time, energy and resources should be spent on the residents and businesses that have already invested in Murrieta. TRAILS, PROPERTY RIGHTS, PUBLIC SAFETY and COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT must be given its fair share of City Hall's time. My name is Alan Long. I’m a Husband, Father, Fire Captain, Commissioner, and I want to be your next Council member!
